Faux Stained Glass

So Julie came in to play and show me a technique she found pretty interesting.  This is a Faux Stained Glass effect.  We made a few modifications and came up with these cards.

Basically, we embossed the dragonfly using our new Big Shot Embossing Mats, on Whisper White cardstock.  We then colored the raised portions of the wings with Stampin' Write Markers.  We then used clear embossing powder on the wings to give them the glass effect.  We then put Stampin' Up! adhesive sheets on both sides of our foam (purchased from Walmart).  This is in lieu of die cutting three times and gluing together for a thicker layer. We then die cut the dragonfly and poked all the little pieces out.  We removed the adhesive sheet on the backside and layered over our clear embossed dragonfly.  We die cut another dragonfly out of whisper white cardstock and heat embossed with black embossing powder.  Then we removed the adhesive sheet from the top of our foam and added the black embossed dragonfly.  We then proceeded to create a couple of cards.

If you're thinking this is a waste of foam -- NO!  We saved all the pieces and are now using them for dimensionals!!

I hope this inspires you to play a little with your dies, embossing mat, and markers.

Happy Crafting,

Desiree'
